Recognition at TAB Junior
At Thomas A Becket Junior School, we value recognition over reward. We believe in recognising children for their effort and attitude, expressing our appreciation for their commitment and determination to improve, change, and build upon the TAB values.
Recognition Systems in Place
Community Stars

Weekly Recognition: The community stars are totalled each week, and the winning community in each year group is announced in Monday's assembly. The winning community’s colour ribbons are attached to a year group trophy, recognising the children’s efforts.
Milestones & Pin Badges: As children accumulate community stars, they achieve special milestone badges:
100 Stars – Community Colour Badge
300 Stars – Bronze Badge
600 Stars – Silver Badge
1000 Stars – Gold Badge
1500 Stars – Gold Glitter Badge
Recognition Boards
Each classroom has a recognition board to highlight individual bespoke efforts. These achievements are personal to each child, aiming to boost self-esteem, confidence, and perseverance. It acknowledges children who step out of their comfort zone, overcome challenges, or demonstrate significant effort in an area of difficulty.
Gold Star Recognition: When a child is placed on the board, they receive a gold star so that the entire school community can celebrate their efforts.
Home-School Partnership: Parents are encouraged to share examples of their child demonstrating TAB values at home, which can contribute to their placement on the recognition board.
Certificates
Every Monday, during our celebration assemblies, selected children receive certificates linked to TAB values and learning achievements. Certificates are awarded to students who have demonstrated great effort and attitude in writing, reading, maths, spelling
Our school communities align with the TAB Way Values Wheel, reinforcing our motto: “We are a community.”
